Catching Up...

Well... this is silly. I thought I'd be dedicated to blogging about me and what was going on in my life. Turns out a couple of procrastinated posts and I have forgotten all about the old blog. So today I have blown off the dust that has accumulated and will catch everyone up on how my life has been going throughout the past few months.

One of the big things that has happened is that I have moved out of home and into a share house with a couple of other guys. This has been a huge step in every area of my life, which is good. Relationships with just about everyone have been jumbled around in this regard, strengthening them as we all realise the full freedom I now own. No more mum to tell me to get off the computer because it is four in the morning. No mum to tell me I have a big day tomorrow and I can't go round to a friends house and play pokemon with them until five in the morning. (and mum, if you are reading this, of course I didnt do those silly things! that would be SO irresponsible of me! RIGHT?!?! maybe I did them both once after I had just moved in...). So being an actual functioning adult has been a huge learning curve.

Another notable thing that has happened is that I have picked up another job. I thought this would spell some major saving, which is what prompted me to move out of home, but it really didn't as the job kinda fell through and I haven't earned nearly the amount of money that I thought I would.

Which conveniently leads me on to the next major thing that has happened. My relationship with God has really had to come into it's own and my faith in God providing for me has played a huge part in everyday for me. The only way I could've ever paid rent and fuel and phone bills is because of God. There is no other way. I haven't won the lottery... not that I tried... but God has always been good to me and I keep having just enough for now. SO anyone who doesn't reckon God doesn't give back... should just look at my life.

So I'm starting to do life better with other people (i feel) and getting some stuff in my life ironed out. Learning to be an adult is a lot harder than I thought, but its worth it.

Some other stuff that I have done include....
- Gone to the cricket.
- Play cricket over summer.
- Be sick the week before Christmas.
- Go to mum and dads to watch the boxing day test.
- Forget about every game of cricket until its already halfway through andI'm working
- Go to Canberra to visit an old friend with some other friends.
- Die in the car on the way back to Sale.
- Get a computer.
- Finally finished watching a series of movies that had taken me over two years to finish.
- Be a taxi for many other friends.

I probably forgot a whole heap of stuff. But whatever.

So how was your summer? (ps: this is deliberately aimed at Lauren, Angela, Royce and Colin. And basically anyone else with a blog. Lets actually use these people!!

Peace out.

Fresh Friday #4 - 05/10

Well, well. It's Monday, I've just had an amazing weekend and it's time to share it with the world!

So Friday for me this week was very, very, hectic. It was the much anticipated AWAKEN conference and I was very excited and the conference commenced in a very disorganised fashion for me.
For starters I got hardly no sleep thanks to a certain guy (Colin Wynn) and had to get up early for breakfast at eight-ish. After consuming brekky, i then went on to play some drums at the rally and listen to Brad Hayman preach a great message.
After this I had to quickly rush out the door with a few things just before the elective and travel to Churchill (about two hours) so I could complete my last lab for the semester and finish going to Uni on a Friday any more until exams start. I was able to cruise down the back roads at my leisure as no-one else was travelling on them and I had plenty of time. I stopped by a windmill to take a few photographs, but a rogue magpie was swooping around a little, so i didn't get any decent ones and just quickly moved on.
The lab went alright, but due to my tiredness I made a few crucial errors which dragged the time out a bit meaning that the drive home couldn't be as leisurely as the drive up.
In between blasting John Mayer out of my stereo and getting to Sale i realised that I was only 15km away from reaching the milestone of racking up 150,000 kms in my red car, Pierre. I drove down the road with my heart beating faster with each new kilometre and made it to just outside Stratford before the odometer ticked over to that special value.

With that out of the way and John Mayer still accompanying me for the drive back to Bairnsdale, i made good time and got back just in time for dinner. Dinner aside I then proceeded to play drums for a bit, listen to Brad preach again, get back up and play drums for another, lets say, hour at least (on top of the hour I had just racked up playing before the message). God came and moved all around the place and it was a really special experience. I would not give up drumming in those circumstances for the whole world.
Once that was all done and dusted, things gradually winded down to going back to bed again and the infamous snoring of Colin went from snoring to this... intolerable... noise. I would liken it to someone who is in serious danger of dying and is on life support, but the plug connecting the machine to the wall is only half in, meaning that he is only getting half the oxygen needed to survive and is slowly dying. that accompanied by all the noises a life support machine would normally make.

SO that was my Friday and I hope yours was a cracker as well!!

Frresh Friday #3 // 28/09

Yes. I did skip a week. Yes, I do realize that it's Monday and not Friday. No, I do not have any photos from Friday. I'm sorry!! :(

My weekend has consisted of 23 hours work in three days, so get off my back! Here's a quick overview of MY friday just gone anyway...

I woke up and went for a run. I had breakfast with my good friend Lauren. After this we went to the church and played a game with some other friends. It was called ring the youth kids and convince them to come to Awaken Conference next week. Royce gave us a crash course on how to make a phone call. We laughed at Royce. Afterwards we went to La Porchetta and had lunch with even more people. Then we ran around doing some shopping. I bought ice-cream. Once I got home, I was about to eat my ice-cream, but then Mum reminded me that I had work. In ten minutes I was leaving to go to work. I worked for five and a quarter hours. I went home. I went to sleep. And then that was that.

Plenty to do, but unfortunately was not taking photos.

Next Friday is Awaken, the start of October and drawing close to daylight savings! Plenty of photos and good times to be had!

Til then though... March on soldier!!

Tis The Season...

IT'S BACK!!

Cricket season has come around once again with the promise of sunny skies and stinking hot days. There is nothing more rewarding than winning a cricket match after standing around all day in the sun with twelve other blokes tossing and hitting a ball around a paddock in the middle of nowhere.

I am by no means an exceptional player, but I have always loved cricket and I'm just really excited to have an oppurtunity to do something I enjoy again!

On top of all the actual playing is watching the games on television or at the MCG. Nothing beats the roar of a crowd brought alive but a massive six or a crucial wicket. Or the tension created in your own living room by the Australian guys struggling to win against South Africa A (oh wait... I meant England).

The company, the triumphs, the failures.... The game. I love it.

Fresh Friday #2 - 14/09

Well! I have to say that alot happened yesterday (yes it is Saturday today), but it was one the most fun Fridays I have experienced in a while. Straight up (pretty much as soon as i emerged from my room at 7:15) this toy got given to the cat. So that proved to be funny to watch for a little bit.

Stormy's new toy
First up I caught up with one of my ignition boys for breakfast and talk about everything and nothing at the same time. Had fun drowning the rubbish of the week in a big pile of maccas fat and artery-clogging goodness.

Next i had to do some pre-laboratory stuff for the afternoon and then I ran off to go pick up a sheet of camo netting for Sunday, so that Dad can decorate the church with it.

Camo Netting for Dad
I then drove for an hour to get to University so that i could do one three hour class. We were doing something funky in it, but we had to wait half an hour to let the reaction occur once we had it all set up. So naturally, me and one of my other friends thought it would be a great idea to quickly drive up the road to KFC and get a few snacks while we were waiting. Needless to say, this was one of the best ideas anyone has had for a lab yet. The rest of the lab went smoothly and the desired result would've been achieved if we left the reaction going for longer.

Drove home to Sale an hour earlier than expected and had a shower and got suited up for IGNITEyouth's night of nights... The Formal.
Everyone looked really impressive in their dapper get up especially...
This guy (Tim van Emerick),

this guy (Renier Botes),

and this guy (Dave Mayall).

Needless to say alot of fun was had all throughout the night. Dancing, singing and general mucking around were all in abundance.

And just when you thought that the day couldn't get any better, a surprise visit to youth from the one and only Ange Salerman made everyone that little bit more excited.

So thats another Friday recorded and another week gone. Looking forward to all thats coming up!

Getting Some.

In life there are many things. One huge idea that we face is that of change. How we deal with change says a lot about us.

Not all change is great, but all change defines who we are and who we are likely to become. Some people I know have seemingly changed in an instant and gone places that I couldn't follow them down. But others have changed in ways that have allowed me to change and be productive alongside them.

This next year is going to be a year of change. Thinking a lot about moving out of home, and ideas are being thrown at me about where I should be looking and how I should be approaching next year. Would love to say that it is a piece of cake and she'll be right. But it may not be that way.

The best advice I have heard though in recent times is that sometimes we need to wait on God, but a lot of the time we need to man up and make a choice and run that choice until it cannot be run any further. It is great to be waiting sometimes. But enough waiting. The time to get some is at hand. Time to man up and stare down this change and squeeze it dry of all it has to offer me.

I have a life jacket on, so I am not afraid of sinking.

Fresh Fridays #1 - 07/09

So yesterday was a Friday, the second I have off in a fortnight (hooray!), and I've been helping out at the church directing cars for a funeral. It was a very large funeral and the whole church car park (plus a lot) was taken up as parking space.
After everyone at the funeral had left me and a few rad people named...
Tom Munn (couldn't get a photo on the day so i used this instead!)
Lauren
And Colin

Went off to my workplace, (which is Subway for those who don't know), procured some lunch, then all gathered together and ate it.
It was at this point that we realized that we were running just a fraction behind schedule and set off back to the church to help set up for Ignite Youth. After all the setting up had taken place the kids started arriving and the show was underway.

We played some games, Pirates (yay) against Ninjas (boo).
Making the shape of a surfboard (or something)
I have no clue what shape this was supposed to be but we lost this game :(
And then it came down to this moment. We played a game of number hockey. (Your number gets called and you face off against the same number from the opposing team). And the our team found ourselves down 5-9 in a first to ten game. We put the pedal down and brought it to 9-9 until this kid (Tim van Emerick jr.) finished off a nail-biter of a game to help us Pirates to victory!

Tim van Emerick... The champion!

After this had taken place we worshipped God for a bit until this chick (Lauren, again) jumped up and brought a really great message.

Lauren getting her preach on!
After youth was over I still had enough time to watch Collingwood cop a thumping from Hawthorn in the quarter finals and catch up with some of the guys to play some video games and watch ridiculous videos on YouTube til 2 o'clock this morning!

So overall my Friday was amazing and I will hopefully start documenting the end of my weeks a little better, just for fun!

Soooo.... What did you do on Friday?
